Early Master Cylinder

I'm looking at a Delco Moraine M/cyl, casting #5456022, with the properly stamped end plug, 1" Diameter, julian casting date 263 and a "D5" and I have two questions:
1. Is the "D5" still considered a mold indicator or ?
2. I'm aware of the large "002"; this is NOT one of those, but on this one the "6022" is longer than the "545" on both top & bottom, perhap totally 1/8" bigger; are they all like that & I've just missed it all these years, or is it a 3rd variation? Thanks in advance.

I'm virtually certain the "D5" is a foundry and pattern identifier. The "D" refers to the old Danville, IL nodular/ductile iron foundry. The "5" refers to the pattern number used to make the sand mold.

Danville cast many of the parts machined and assembled by Delco-Moraine in Dayton, OH. Both are long-gone now.
