    1955 Spindle Support Numbers

Does anyone have a quick reference available that gives the numbers cast on the left and right spindle supports for a '55?
I also need to know if the numbers ever changed from '53 to '62.
    Does 3687651 and 3687652 ring a bell?
    Thanks,
    Mike

      John,
Thanks very much. That's exactly what I needed. The piece I came across must be a passenger car front cross member.

I believe that the spindles were GM #3706021 and 3706022 for 1953 to sometime in the 1956 model year. Thereafter, to the end of 1962 production, they were GM #3733449 and 3733450.

The 3733449 and 3733450 replaced the 3706021 and 3706022 for 1953-56 SERVICE in July, 1956.

The 1956 is the first catalog that that combined Corvette with passenger car and light truck. Prior to that time, the Corvette parts catalog was a stand-alone catalog. In October, 1969 it went back to being a stand-alone catalog.

By the way, I'm not too "tuned in" to C1 stuff. However, when I saw the 3733449 and 3733450 part numbers you posted, I thought they looked too "1957-ish" to have been around as early as 1953 and that's how it turned out.

I think that the NCRS bookstore sells a reprint of the last edition of the 53-55 Corvette P&A Catalog.

John, Joe's correct - the "blue cover" 7/1/55 Corvette parts book group 6.023 Support, Steering Knuckle; left is 3706021 and right is 3706022. Give Gary or Eric a call to see if they have the reprint. Gary....
