    Hi Bryan,

I forgot about this link until this evening, it's a detailed write up by one of the CF members on the installation of a Pilkington replacement windshield in his '65 coupe, it might be helpful:

If you go to his home-page, you will see that George has write-ups for a lot of different installations.

I'm now kinda worried about what I'm going to find. It seems urethane is the top choice of most modern installers. I might have the mess that you speak of.

Thanks Scott! The car currently has a Pilkington windshield.

Urethane is what the factories use today, as virtually all glass is adhesively-installed directly to the flange in the body opening - the glass is "glued" to the body, and replacement glass is done the same way.

Midyear Corvette windshields are rubber channel-installed, with no adhesives, like many trucks and full-size vans were up until 10-20 years ago, and are installed using a "rope". The process is shown in detail in the "Corvette Body" section of the '63-4-5 Corvette Shop Manuals and the '66-'67 Chassis Service Manuals.

Thanks John. When I get ready to pull and re-install, I hope to find that my windshield is installed using the rubber channel method.
