    Thanks Jack Panzica

Well Jack ! After having you at the garage a couple of weeks ago, I took your advise and took one of the cars for a ride. After looking at my cars in the garage that have been motionless for years, I decided to break out the old 71 silver coupe and take it for a little drive last night. Ann and I drove it to supper and a local cruise in.

Driving your old 66 gave me the fever to bust one out !! Still haven't decided to go cruising in the 63, but we had a good time going through the gears in the 71. Thanks for talking me into it !! They are meant to be driven now and again. This was the first trip out of the garage for the 71 since 07 when I drove it to the gas station and put a little fuel in it.

Here it is out by Grand Lake last night.

    Tom;

Looks nice. Yes, we must quit procrastinating waiting for just the perfect weather or occasion to take our Vettes out for a ride. I find that just the intimidation of having to remove the cover, or I really should check the tire pressure, the brake fluid, etc. etc. is enough to put it off for another day. At my age, some of these things combined with our hot summer here in Florida just keeps me from the enjoyment and heart pumping thrill of a good drive. I keep waiting for the cool season for this and a lot of other projects I guess. Carlisle had me wound up a bit, but that didn't last.

Stu, if we keep putting off driving them the day when we can dop that may never come. We have seen all too many of our friends reach that point lately.

      Enjoy 'em while you can.

Good for you Tom, taking the cars out. I had my '62 out yesterday. I have made up mind that I will drive it just because I want to. Besides, I had to get to the office somehow and I didn't want to walk. Someone else can worry about the miles I have put on it. When they are parked, do they go up in value? Probably not.

Tom, I would be happy to drive that 63 for you. That red beast might be more power than you're used to. Those new ZR1s you tool around in are just wannabes ya know..

Myself, I never wanted a museum piece, for some that's fine. I'd rather be explaining a chip in the paint from a 400 mile road trip rather than explaining why it just sits there. The chips can be fixed, the time can not be recovered. Whatever your fun is, have it while you can!

Very much so. You don't get the condition loss from wear and tear. However, what is the value of the enjoyment of driving it that is lost by letting it sit? Drive it if you can, at least occaisionally.

You are absolutely right, they do go up in dollar and cents. I just remember when I had my trailer queen though, the value of what the car meant to me, went down. I didn't drive it, I didn't uncover it, I almost forgot that I had it. It was garage art, undercover. Now I am driving and enjoying it.

Tom, Life is to short to just "NOT" enjoy these old cars.

My wife bought her 77 on May 24, 1977, her Dad's Birthday !
She still owns that car, and just last week after going thru some stressful medical issues, told me

"I AM TAKING THE COVER OFF THE CAR, AND GOING FOR A DRIVE"

WOW, I thought. What has come over her. Well three hours later she drove into the garage and had this huge smile on her face. After parking the car.....she said

"Why have I not been driving this car more all these years. It sure relieved some stress for me today, and put a smile on a lot of faces besides mine. At least five people waved to me from their regular passanger cars with a thumbs up"

She is the original owner after all, and bought it all on her own before I met her at our local Corvette club back in the day.

They go up and down in value. Everything is cyclical. Bottom line, if you're not going to drive them, why the hell do you own them? Trailer queen owners make me laugh. Where's the enjoyment in that?
Jack told me that when he offered to let you drive his, you said you hadn't driven a C2 in a long time even though you have one (or two or more). You should be ashamed.

Well, I would not like to make comments about a person who doesn't have the ability to say for themselves.

I should be ashamed of owning my cars and enjoying them my way? Nah. Don't think so.

I own them because I love them. My situation is different than most. I spend every day of my life in a showroom full of Corvettes. I get to drive them every single day. New ones and old ones. My cars are just certain ones that I have collected over the years and enjoy owning. As far as being trailer queens................... I've never owned a trailer and none of my cars have ever had a trailer ride ! Value is not the issue either, I like the cars better than the money, or I wouldn't have bought them.

Basically, I just love having them.

Jack was right, I hadn't driven my C2's in a long time, but as I mentioned before, I get to drive lot's of Corvettes. EVERY DAY !!
