Out of curiousity, I can understand polishing out minor scratches, but removing deep grooves?? How do they do that?

My guess is that they would belt sand these out or perhaps fill them with brass then sand down and plate chrome to cover it. Anyone know or is a trade secret?

        Hi Guenter,
I believe most people would easily see the difference between the rings C.A. offers and those used for production in St. Louis.
C.A. offers the GM rings, sold 'over the counter' by dealers', with the 4 clips turned 45 degrees from the valve stem opening, and also the after-market trim rings with 'grippers' continuously around their outer circumfrence.
        Regards,
        Alan

Follow up on my trim ring. It arrived today and looks really nice! It was a pleasure to do business with, Dan's Polishing and Chrome. During the job Dan had mentioned to me about two very deep scratches, that were to deep to remove completely. Turns out only one is barely visible. Turn around time was just about three weeks, and the price was very reasonable. First the ring had it's flash chrome stripped, dents were removed, and scratches taken were out. Next they reapplied the flash chrome and then polished it. For those that prefer keeping there original rings, here is someone doing a good job with them!

The photo's show the redone ring in front of one mounted original ring.

            Hi Kevin,
The ring does look VERY nice in the pictures. The 'hue', again in the pictures, looks to match the original in the back ground.
Thanks very much for the link!
            Regards,
            Alan

I've got 10,000 flight hours on the Boeing 737 and I'm still learning new things there, so, it doesn't surprise me if these rings were flash chromed and I was unaware.
