58-61 FI Tach cable

I have an original tach cable for a 58 290 HP with the steel casing with the threading nuts labelled A/C Speedometer on one end and A/C Sparkplug on the other.
On the tach end, it has a sort of keyway/projection and the other end is a four saquare contact. Did this keyway/projection/?? go away before 1962 in some sort of running change or ??????

If I'm not mistaken, the squared off end for the dist started in 61.

My '59 is the same but I don't see A/C Speedometer on the tach nut. The keyway goes to the distributor and the square goes to the tach.

The square tip on the distributer end of the tach cable began in 1962. 1961 and earlier F.I. cars used the cable with the key or tab as you describe. Rich
