Re: power steering problem
There a slight difference between the Corvette version of the part and the equivalent passenger car version. Deals with internal spring specifics.
Those who have inadvertently installed the passenger car version often report a 'twitchy' response profile with an inability to set the over-center adjustment correctly to make the system 'neutral' during straight line driving...- Top

Hope you didn't grease the control valve through its zerk fitting - that can damage the internal spool seals.- Top

Re: power steering problem
I'm not surprised. When a valve is rebuilt it has to be re-adjusted. This can be VERY difficult to accomplish on-car. It's best done on a bench testing hydraulic device. Most folks don't have one. That's why most folks just buy a valve already rebuilt and pre-adjusted.
Of course, it's also possible that you didn't get the valve rebuilt/re-assembled properly. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
