    Fuel/Brake Lines

Do any of you 57ers have any good pics of the fuel and brake line dress on the right front of the car? I am interested in how the fuel line is routed between the coupling and fuel pump hose and the brake line in the same area - around the battery box and up to the block.
I have mine in but I am not sure it is correct. It just doesn't look quite right and I'm not sure I have the clamps right either.
Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks , -Dan-

    Dan -

If it matches the illustration in UPC 5, sheet 3, you're in business; the fuel pipe goes under the brake pipe at the tee, then goes over the front brake pipe as it goes forward. Looks a bit odd, but that's the design.

Okay, I give up. Got to show my ignorance here - what is UPC 5? I know its not Universal Product Code. I was really hoping to see the clamps. Not sure my repro lines are pre-bent correctly. I had some problems installing them. Thanks, -Dan-

        Re: Fuel/Brake Lines

Dan, I saw your post the other day and was hoping that someone would chime in with a picture. I am having the same dilemma. Like you I am wondering how the steel fuel line is routed before it gets to the flexible line that goes to the fuel pump. I bought my lines I believe from Corvette Central and I had to do a lot of tweaking to get them where they should be. At present my line is uncomfortably close to the exhaust manifold on that side. I have gone through all of my reference material and thus far have found no pictures of the area in question. I hope someone out there will help us. Car 54, where are you? Thanks in advance! Re: Fuel/Brake Lines

I bought mine from Classic Tubes in Buffalo, NY. I said I had to "tweak" some of them. A more accurate description would be "I had to re-bend the living tar out of most of them". I didn't ask for this, but I would also love to see just how the fuel line exits the fuel tank. Is there a bend so the line follows the recess in the fiberglass cover? If there isn't, then the line will interfere with the cover.
Thanks for posting, I think someone will chime in now. -Dan-

Is 56/57 that different from 59/62? I looked through 150 photos of a friends 57 and no pics of that area.....

              Dan,
John is referring to the page in the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) that shows the fuel and brake lines. If you are restoring your Corvette without an AIM, you are taking on the task with one hand tied behind your back.

Ok, Just answered my own question.... I just got back in the shop and looked at my 57 AIM(not a good copy) and I see this is very different from later years...... as well as very different from earlier years as I see on pg 47 of Noland's book showing a '54.

My copy of the 57 AIM is very difficult to see, and I have a pdf of the entire 57 AIM so I went into Adobe, magnified the nice clear image and is shown below. I think the concern is show in Section 8 Sheet 1.00 Fuel & Exhaust.(1st & 2nd pics)

                Section 5 Sheet 3.00 is Front Brake Pipes.(3rd & 4th pics)

More AIM pics, and a 57 under the tank area if it helps...

                    Hi Dan,
I will post a few pictures of the brake and fuel lines looking down from the top near battery box. Pictures from my 57 bowtie car.
                    Hope they help

                      Re: Fuel/Brake Lines

I knew you guys could do it!

Terry, I do have the AIM, and I use it religiously. As Rich says, it is not very clear in this area, and I did not know what UPC meant (still don't).

Rich, your blown-up PDF file is a big help. I don't have a PDF file.

Dave, your pic shows the pipe going to the flex hose bending up and in toward the Ex manifold, which is what Brooks is saying. This is what my pipe is trying to do too, and I just did not think it was correct. Looks like it is.

If anyone has their tank cover off, I would appreciate a top down shot of the pipe from the sending unit down the side of the tank.

                      Thanks, -Dan-

p.s. Please - no one think they have to remove their cover for me. I would feel real bad if they did. Just looking for one that is already apart.

I don't have an AIM of that year, so I can't help you with that. I know they can be less than clear at times.

I have been trying to remember what UPC stands for, but I can't. I had to look it up using the search function.

                        UPC = UNIFORM PARTS CLASSIFICATION

I got the 57 AIM pdf from Russ Uzes website a few years ago. I recall he bought a original AIM on Ebay or something like that and scanned the whole thing! It's even searchable. I checked where he had it for download and his website has expired. It was uzes.net.
Here's a link to and old post about the AIM:

                          https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...IM%22&uid=4994

The link is broken as his site is gone.

It's a 193MB file so it cannot be emailed.

p.s. anyone heard from Russ lately. His last post here was a few months ago. I know he was been working on Nolands site and documentation.
