Have you owned a Corvette with

a Dealer name tag applied to the back of the car. Label or emblem? Would this be as delivered?

I attempted to get my selling dealer to exclude their logo on my 1970. He told me "Take the car or I sell it to someone else." His logo is still there today, and I still don't like it.

Yes and no... Many judges will overlook a dealer label because we know that was a rather common dealer practice during car prep.

But, the NCRS rule reads narrowly on the subject restricting the dealer prep items to those promulgated by Chevy/GM at the time of sale. GM did not reimburse dealers for the time/cost involved with applying a dealer origin 'advertizement' badge...

Joe, I have two delivered with the dealer tag, a '77 and a '78. I removed the tags and put them in my album along with other delivery documents. I was lucky that my dealer used thin adhesive backed foil tags.

Terry, please share a picture of that when you have time.

I think the dealer script was installed at the dealership by the dealer. My Corvette mechanic was restoring a '65 red Corvette convertible that had been sitting covered in a garage for over twenty years in Dallas. The owner gave the car to his son who contacted my mechanic about getting it restored. When we finally got the locked gas cap off we staggered from the stench of stale gasoline. Anyway, the new owner asked him to strip the car of all its original scripts including the fuel bezel and replace with reproductions. My mechanic gave me the original factory scripts plus the dealer metal script which said Friendly Chevrolet, Dallas, Texas with a caricature of a smiling guy wearing a ballcap with a steering wheel in his hands. It was mounted with two studs and speed nuts.

To this end...does anyone recall, have a car from Reedman Motors, Langhorne PA? What did they put on the cars?

                Label inside the glove box?

How about a badge with metal pins that meant your car has holes drilled in it?

Looking for specific info relative to the hundreds of cars that passed through Reedman.

Pretty sure my 59 had a used car dealer script on the trunk as well as my 1970 on the duck tail and 1974 on the bumper.

My first ever brand new car was a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta GT. I told the dealer if yout put that ugly dealer sticker on the back of the car I saved three years to buy you can keep it......he didn't put the sticker on but was not one bit happy.........

Not a Vette, but I ordered a Superbird, when I went to pick it up the dealer had put one of his decals on it. After a lengthy discussion as to how much he was going to pay me to drive around with his advertising, I informed him that either, the decal went, or he kept the car. In about two minutes the decal was gone. He was scared to death that I was going to stick him with that car.

I was able to get my dealer to not put his name tag on my 96 without any fuss. Ironically, years later I realized that it would be nice to have with the car's paperwork (but not on the car) and I was able to find a few the dealer used in 96.

                          Hi,
When I bought my 71 the dealer didn't put his 'name plate' on. When I made a trip to Detroit to visit my wife to be later in 1971 we stopped at a Penske dealership and I asked for a 'plate'. I put it on the tailight panel with 2 sided tape. I thought it was pretty cool to have a Penske plate.
                          Regards,
                          Alan

If you want remove the label (as long as it's not painted on) warm (warm not hot) it with a hairdryer and slowly and carefully peel it of with the help of a single edge razor blade. With patience and some beer you should be able to remove it without damaging any paint.

Our '59 had a Doane Chevrolet sticker stuck to the paint of the trunk lid. I didn't like it then, but would install it today if I could find one. Doane is long gone.
