Correct red paint for interior and vinyl dye?

Where would one get a correct shade of red for the interior of a 1956 in rattle can form? I have a radio delete plate to paint. Doesn't need to be perfect or I would have a local shop match my original and spray it.

Also, my upper dash pad is very good condition, just a bit faded. Where can I buy some red rub in dye that will restore it back to the original bright red?

    Thanks!

Alexander, if the instrument panel paint is aged it will be difficult getting a match. A number of vendors advertise in Hemmings who offer paints in rattle cans. When I tried to match the Polo White on my instrument panel I gave up after a number of tries and had it mixed for my block off plate. For the dye Knoch and many of the Corvette parts vendors who sell upholstery offer spray dyes. I have never seen a "rub on" dye for vinyl in Corvette colors.

I used one of the spray dyes years ago (red) and even though my car is covered the top part of the sunvisors have faded. Bottoms still look good though.

I went ahead and ordered some of the 56-57 red interior laquer from C. Central so I'll see how that goes. I'm not looking for a perfect color match, just close is good enough for me until I restore the entire dash.

Hmmm, I never thought about a spray for the red vinyl. I only asked about a rub in dye because I worry about the elasticity of the spray. Will it not crack if you squeeze it?

No, cannot tell that there is a layer of film. Could not tell there was any dye on it.

There is no such thing as a dye for vinyl. Want to change or refurbish the color, use a elastomeric interior paint which has been around forever. Dupont if you can find it. I've found the color and gloss levels very good, or I'm told SEM is a good choice
