C3 Flex front bumper - Repair???

I have this 73 and the front flex bumper has broken in the front center, any thoughts about repairing or best way to repair. Thanks in advance for any replys. I don't want to replace until later this year after trip to Naples, FL. in Nov.

    Lawrence,
Unfortunately your existing bumper, made of Urethane, will continue to crack due to its age.
There still is available the Urethane bumper like the original for 73 and 74s, but you will still have to use a flex agent for the paint, and the discoloration will happen again as it ages.
In your profile, you state that this car is a driver. In that case you would be better to go with the Tru Flex version and when it gets painted, no need for flex agaent, so your paint will match the rest of the body.
I did this for my 73 two years ago and am glad I did.
    Bob

I replaced the front and rear bumpers on my 75 with Toledo Pro truflex fiberglass bumpers. They fit well for a driver, and the paint matches well with the body.

I have seen generic urethane bumper repair kits which are supposed to be good for dings, whacks, and gouges. I have not tried one.

Flexible bumper repair IS an automotive specialty area these days... But, as mentioned above, if the original plastic is dried up with its native plasticizers having out-gassed, you can be akin to the little Dutch boy and the dike!

It MAY be time to R&R the bumper to obtain a factory fresh part that won't continue to crack...

Replace your bumper with a Tru Flex and you will be happy with the result. Even if you could repair the crack in your bumper , it won,t be long before another part of the bumper has an issue.

All the responses to this issue are right. I replaced both front and rear on my '75 with Tru-flex and am very happy with the results over 5 years later.
