    Rear axle grease change

Is there any significant consequence to changing the rear axle grease on a '61-62 posi unit? Anything out of the ordinary that I should be aware of?
Any specific grease that should be used to replace what is undoubtedly the orginal grease?

    THanks

Unless you pull the center section you will never know what settled in the bottom. If you are not ready to do that yet most oil change places will pull the plug and suck out all they can. Usually pretty dirty if in there a long time. I would have them do that and refill. Also if you have a posi unit they need to add one bottle of the posi additive. Sometimes two, but I would start with one if no noise from the clutches after you drive awhile. Try to watch the technicians while they fill and make sure the plug goes back in. Good time to replace the gasket on the plug.
