Anybody remember or aware of a fiberglass reproduction of the 63-65 FI air cleaner. I'm trying to find one for race car if anybody has history or information. Jerry

Re: FI air cleaner fiberglass repo
Jerry, The fiberglass midyear FI air cleaners were reproduced in late 70's. Originally sold for 295.00 each.
The S tube and cannister were 'glass. The clamps were of a thinner steel material. I believe the elbow though was a combo of steel and glass.
Nice cheep air cleaner in its days.
When I was in the restaurant business I drove a late 63 340HP original engine car with a fake fuel unit and fiberglass air cleaner. Drove it for about 10 years daily except when the roads had salt. Hauled a lot of cases of liquor in that 63.
Just about every Corvette Carlisle you hear of a fiberglass AC for sell.
Hope to see a lot of you at CC this week. Stop by to cool off as I will have 7 fans running if needed. JD- Top

Re: FI air cleaner fiberglass repo
Amazing how utilitarian those old splits were!
I used to haul lion and bear cubs in an incubator in mine.
Just checked out the old TCM Napolean, OH catalog and drooled at the prices for all the old FI stuff and repro ACs.
See ya Saturday John,

Re: FI air cleaner fiberglass repo
I picked up a fiberglass elbow from Jim Nueffer out of New York in the early eightys for a very good price. It was all fiberglass and did not have any metal on it at all. It was a good reproduction. I see that he still advertizes and sells FI parts. It's a good life!
