The water pump pulley on my 66 needs to be refinished. It had been painted what appears to be a black gloss or semi-gloss and it is chipped up. TIM&JG calls for "uniform gray to black phosphate or an optional phosphate and a black rubber resin basespray coating". What is easiest to replicate and what is the process. If it is just paint where would I get the best color and finish match? Or is there someone that properly refinishes these?

Have a picture of the original crank pulley finish next to the water pump pulley that was bead blasted an treated with Eastwood's blacking solution.
Not that close but might have to go with it. Tried different paints but this is best so far

I am not really familiar with plating and finishes that are not paint, is black oxide a pretty good immitation of black phosphate, purely from an appearance standpoint?- Top
