    Re: Wiper problem

Lynn, I can explain how I adjusted my 72 wiper arms on the driver side, because the same problem was happening to my car, so it must be common as things wear.

First turn wipers on, then shut wiper off at the top of there sweep, or as close as you can get.( use the override switch under the dash) with the wiper door still open( using the wiper door manuel override).if your hand are small enough to reach into the recess with a 7/16 or maybe a 3/8 small wrench. loosen the nuts on the drivers side wiper transmisson arm, at this point you should be able to move the arm away from the piller. the adjustment will only allow for about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of travel.move only slightly, as so when the wipers do park they do not contact each other to much. They will rest against each other when parked.

There is a small screw on the side of each the for a fine adjustment. If you read the assembly manual you will see the proper adjusment at the peak of the stroke is only .75 in from the molding. It indicates that the wiper arms are to be adjusted by setting the left arm under the stop in the park position and the right arm on top of the left arm both are to be set below the parked stop. If this does not work your lenkage has play in it. Check the connection of the arm to the transmission as the arms have a key way and the trans has the key if the key or the way is worn or broken preasure will cause the arm to slip on the trans.
