Re: Corvette Fever Magazine Apparently Kaput

CF was my first subscription of Corvette-publication in the early 90's. Several years later I added CE to the list.
I always kept my issues for their good resto-articles. With the good online-support (like the TDB here or corvetteforum) available, I did'n have to search for old article since very long now...

It IS kind of sad, seeing CF being dumped now. On the other hand, I more or less flicked through them in the recent past - they turned a lot towards C5, C6 and restomods lately, ridding themselves a big lot of their use to me...

Anyhow, sad to see time taking its toll.
Let's see if I will get that postcard here (overseas), too - and let's see how Vette Magazine does perform......

      Tom M.;

You are correct. CF was started by Terry M. I was one of his original subscribers and supporter of his parts business back in the 70's. He was about the only game in town then. He lost his business and the mag in his first scandal, the details of which slip my old mind. He's come a long way since and I congratulate him.

Who remembers "Vette Super Shopper"? How about "Corvette Corner Magazine"? And then there was "Blue Flame Special." There was a time when "Vette Vues" was the predominant player in the field. Things have changed--I'm serving on the Board of Directors for a large publishing house, my brother in law is general manager of two newspapers in Michigan, and believe me, they and all the print media as well as outlets (Barnes and Noble, etc.) , are struggling.

Hey Mike. Your posting with those former publication titles made me think of another. Anyone remember Vette 'n USA? It was a monthly newspaper tabloid. I wrote a column in it titled "Motor Mouth." Thanks for the memories. Regards.

It will be interesting to see what editorial/writing staff makes the transition. I dropped my CF subscription about 6 months ago due to the above two, and would have a year ago if my wife hadn't inadvertently renewed it.

So, Patrick, your prediction is that they will both be running for the House of Representatives in 2012.........?

It's no wonder Corvette magazines are going under. The prices kept going up, $30 for a year, I can buy three better known chevy magazines for that if I purchase three year subscriptions. The chevy rags have more chrome bumper stuff (as I don't even look at rubber bumper stuff). True not much Corvettes but old Chevys are cool too.

There used to be all c1&c2 articals prior to the 80's. Current Corvette magazines don't have much on the old cars and too much of the same advertisement. That's why they lost me years ago.

First thing I do is tear out all the double page ads on any magazine I get. You end up with less than half of the magazine if you discount the one sided ads. It makes stowage space last longer.

I'm sure that many fellow NCRS members who contributed to this magazine over the years would disagree.

Both magazines changed over the years, and for worst. In the early 90's I used to read in my country VM under the Randy Reegs direction. Great magazine. Idem CF with more tech oriented articles, but then they changed the lane...

At present Internet stuff is much better.

                    Best regards

I have a collection of Corvette News magazines from the 70's and early 80's. I believe they were published and/or authorized by GM. Virtually NO ads leaving room for the good stuff.

Unfortunately the collection isn't complete. But it is a nice historical reference as they were published during the C3 era. I believe my Dad subscribed to it after he bought the 1969 427/390 Convertible that I now have.
