    C2 owner plastic envelope

    I have 2 of the clear Chevrolet owners envelopes. One came with the car I now have (65 coupe). It has a date of 1/4/64 and part number 3834959 on the back. The other appears identical with same date but the part number is 3831959. So, Is one an original item and the other a repro?

    thanks, Blake

    I've got a 1965 Chev Impala 2-door package (clear envelope, Owners Guide, Owner Protection Plan / P-o-P booklet, and 1965 Custom Feature Accessories brochure). The car has dates indicating assembly at the end of March. It was sold by the dealer on July 21st. The envelope is dated 1-4-63 [not a typo], part # 3834959 (the same as your '65 coupe).

    I see the '65 AIM says this is the correct number -- doesn't mention a date.

    Got a question for all -- was the clear plastic envelope provided at final assembly (St.Louis, in the case of the Corvette), or was it dealer stock that was used to package everything in the glove box, after the P-o-P was completed ?

          I have one with my 67, that is dated 3-16-66, with same part number, 3834959.

          Was there only one stamp date for each model year ?

            Hello Wayne;
            Anecdotally, back in the day I believe we received all paperwork in/with the vehicles.

              Gentlemen, as Mr. John Hinckley repeatedly reminded me, until it finally registered; "if it's shown in the AIM, then it was installed at St.Louis". Gary....

                That's the same part number specified in the 1968-69 JG for 1968 envelope. We don't have the date in the manual.

                  Some things change over time including specific PN as well as revision level of a given PN. When the revision level changed, the effective date also changed. So, for best advice, consult your copy of the Judging Guide since you've got a '67 and this thread was rifle shot at a '65 car.
