Guys;
Looks like it is going to be "one of those days". The sun was shining so I pulled the '63 out to take a few pictures to post on Facebook... I pull the car back in the garage and I spot a new wet spot on the driveway... fuel me thinks... Sure enough, I look under the '63 and there it is.. drip, drip, drip coming off the fuel pump.. Looks like the gaskets are shot.. What really burns my butt is the fact that this is the second repro pump in there since the motor rebuild only 2800 miles ago... this one can't have 1000 miles on it! I can also see the paint on my recently redone control arm all nice and bubbly.... *!#@$)(&%&$#^&*Y$@!!!!!!
When I replaced the pump the first time, motor in car, I learned that it was probably the biggest PITA job on the car... I actually made up some swear words for that special occasion...
Here's the question.. I have a NOS 4657 pump which I bought at Carlisle a couple of years ago.. it still has the original striped diaphragm. Am I better off installing that one as is or should I try to rebuild the one on the car from the underside (i.e. without removing it from the block).
Thanks,
Joel
