It is what it is -- but it's definitely a gorgeous car. Enjoy the drive!

Except 300 hp PG cars used 2" exhaust.

Besides the heads, the 300 hp used different intake , and AFB carb instead of WCFB.

What is the casting date on the back of the block (on top)? This will tell the month, day, and year the block was cast. The casting number is probably 3782870 but it also could be 3858180. The "F0619S" stamping signifies a Flint block, June 19th, and 327 engine w/Powerglide transmission for a 1962-1964 Chevrolet passenger car (model 12-16-1800 if a 1962 or 1963 or model 12-14-16-1800 if a 1964).

It would be easy to assume that they were representing the car to be the way they said it was. There is a bunch of case law on misrepresentation based on less than this particular situation. That said, I'm a big boy and can take my lumps.
          Bobby,
Not every car is a "perfect" top-flight car, but who really cares? Like me, you bought a car that you always wanted -- and you bought it within your budget. Drive and enjoy the car with no regrets; it's a beautiful '63 with air conditioning no less! Most people can only dream of seeing a '63 SWC in person... but you now own one of the most iconic cars ever made. That's awesome! Don't worry about the engine numbers or what came on the car from the factory. It really doesn't matter if your main purpose is to experience the car for the purpose it was designed... to be driven on the open road. My '65 convertible isn't a "perfect" original car either, but it's red hot and drives like a dream. I can't get past a traffic light or gas station without someone telling me how awesome my car looks... and guess what, no one ever asks me if my numbers match, if the color is original, or if my rims are real knock-offs. I love my Vette, and I'm sure you love yours, too. Congratulations on your purchase; great deal on a great car !!

          Just my 2 cents,

Thanks David. Haven't got a look at the casting date yet. Not easily visible.

Thanks Andrew and well said. It certainly looks like it may not be the original engine. If not," then Katy bar the door". I'll customize the hell out of it and it will really be enjoyable. When I'm done someone will be able to buy a beautiful upgraded car. Originality is great but if it can't happen, it can't happen. I will enjoy the car for what it is and will become. Bobby

Maybe it's only me but hey, Bobby got a really nice SWC for 50K plus fees. Not a bad deal really. If the a/c works I would by a SWC for that pretty quick.

Intake manifold, tachometer, air-cleaner, valve covers, differential combination 308:1/positraction, and others. I still need to check the cam, feels like a Duntov, and the pistons. Any other suggestions on that subject? Also, discovered it was once a 4sp and maybe came with the powerglide or a 4sp. I love these mysteries.
I suggest those mysteries should have been solved prior to purchase. Finding out afterwards is backwards since you may have spent money for something you assumed and not have.

But that aside a 340 was not coupled with a power glide. And 3.08 gears would have to been requested with 340 as not std build. The Duntov cam was not part of the 300 horse build. That Duntov cam, 2 speed automatic, and 3.08 gears is not a “desirable” combination. It would be ok over the road highway but not normal combination driving.
