Re: 1963 Corvette Gas Cap Info Please!
As mentioned the term "flanged" hole may not be quite the correct descriptive term for the so called 1st design 63 gas cap.
Since my 1st love in life is crossword puzzles and not Corvettes (2nd or 3rd) I just opened a NY Times Crossword Puzzle Dict. for a definition of the word flange. :Bead, boss, bezel, collar, shroud, etc.
One might think then that the word flange would be a good word to describe a gas cap later than the 63's. Just like old Joe Lucia etal said.
Real deal 63 cap just has nice little hole with nothing around the hole. No flange, nuttin.
If you like I can stab my original cap hole with a pin gauge to see the size of the hole.
Don't know if Bobby Gregory looks in here or not but he and I were talking about the 63 caps at Marlborough a few years ago and he said all the 63 caps had the same configuration. JD
