    Windshield mounting items

Does anyone have a vendor p/n list of adhesives, primers, dams etc. for mounting a windshield using urathene.

I've read through the archives. There's a lot of discussion on what not to use.

It would be nice to have a list to pre-order for a Carlisle pick-up.

This is for a 73 coupe and original glass.

    thanks

    Re: Windshield mounting items

    Hi Steve,
I've been looking for an original dam or suitable replacement for years. When I couldn't wait any longer I used one from a Toyota.
Its about the right color, but not very close in shape; and it doesn't show the self adhesive through the glass like the originals do. The best thing I can say about it is that it prevents you from seeing the sealant used through the glass.
If you find an original unused damming strip I like to know about it. I can send you a little sample of my original, if you'd like, to give you some idea what you're looking for if you don't have a piece from your car.
    Regards,
    Alan

This drawing is a section through the windshields header, glass and ss trim. You can't actually see this area because of the additional tinted sun shade at the top of the windshield. The only place you can see the dam is on the a-pillars

Thanks for the offer Allen, I took my w/s out 2 wknds ago. I used a braided brass wire to cut it out and immediately boxed the glass. So I didn't look at sealing area. But I'm sure there is enough of the daming strip left for a sample. The Thiokol was all still very goey.

I was amazed I got the glass out in one piece.
