Is this my original tach drive cable?

I ordered a repop from Paragon that has been on the car for judging. It has been dinged one point because of a non-typical factory style crimp on the end.

    Thoughts on this one?

Also, I've been told that Volunteer Vette has a great repop version of this cable with the correct style crimp, yet when I go to their webpage, the crimp doesn't look like what I have.

Check out the deal on 63-68 TACHOMETER CABLE (23.5 INCH) at Volunteer Vette Corvette Parts

Chris, I am not a tach cable expert, but there is one on eBay, bidding for which expires at 5 PM PDT on Aug 9. It has the 6-sided crimp on both ends and looks a lot like my original 67 cable. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tchlink:top:en

Chris, Be careful you get the correct length cable assembly. There are some variations on them. JD

Chris -- here's the distr. end of an original cable I have -- forgot where it came from. Note the TELEFLEX marking. This is a 6-sided crimp. Can't recall what the cluster end looks like, but I could dig it out and photograph, if needed.

          Hi Chris,

This cable came off of the '67 (L79). I don't know for sure if the cable I have is original, but it looks the same as Wayne's picture. Car has been in the family since 1976 and I have a receipt history file going back to 1974. I checked the receipt file and there are only 3 cables mentioned:

Cable (9-474) Genuine Auto Parts (Dayton, OH) $4.38
          Date: 4-07-78
(I don't know what this cable is, it's possible that it is a tach cable)

Cable (25032874) White-Allen Chevrolet, Inc. (Dayton, OH) $12.94
Date: 3-26-85 (Internet search showed this p/n to be a GM speedometer cable)

          Cable 9.647 (3866077) Frank Z Chevrolet (Dayton, OH) $8.70
Date: 10-02-90 (Corvette Central cross-reference search shows this as an antenna cable)

The distributor end of the cable has "TELEFLEX" and "3", with a six-sided crimp. The smaller (instrument cluster) end has "TELEFLEX" and "4", also with a six-sided crimp (pictures next post). I'm sure there's a name for the screw-on cable end-caps, but I don't know what the correct term is. The overall length from 'far end of end-cap' to 'far-end of end-cap' is about 23 3/4 inches when I stretch the cable out straight or follow the curves of the cable with the tape measure, but I couldn't do that and take a picture at the same
