    Numbers for Bearings

Can anyone tell me the numbers for all of the bearings in the rearend of a 74 coupe. I believe they were timken bearings and I would like the timken bearing numbers to replace the timken bearings.
Any help would be appreciated. I have the aim book but am not sure if these numbers are the same.
    Thanks Rob

      Rob,
The M86610 race and M86649 bearing go together as (1) of the two bearings for the rear spindle (I think thats the inner). The other is marked as "set 5" which is the bearing and race packaged together. The AutoZone #s for the (3) pieces that give you one spindle set are 694323 , 694307 , & 693085. Hope this helps, Mike

NO bearings on a 1974 Corvette were originally Timken. They were originally New Departure-Hyatt. However, Timken bearings are excellent to use as replacements.

By "rearend" do you mean the rear spindle bearings (part of the trailing arms) or do you mean the bearings within the differential carrier?

Sorry for the confusion by saying rearend. I mean the differential. I want to replace the two side and pinion bearings. I want to use Timken beings as I thought these were orginals. I will probably use them anyway because we have the plant that makes the bearings in my city. Shop locally.
Thanks for all of the help.

There may be a Timken bearing plant in your city but that does not mean that's where the bearings you seek are manufactured. Timken has bearing plants all over the world and each manufactures particular bearings.

Anyway, the bearings you require are available as a complete set under Timken #DRK-323. This includes everything you need, including seals, but does not include the stub axle outer bearings. These are straight roller bearings and are not manufactured by Timken. They are manufactured by Torrington and are available under GM #455724 or from a Torrington bearing distributor cross-referenced from that number.

              Joe
The side yoke bearings were Torringtons, once made here in CT,now gone. Torrington sold them to Timken who just sold them to Koyo. They still retain the Torrington name and made in USA- for now.

Use only USA Timken's and CR Seals. I have seen some cheap parts out there and you don't want to have to go back in there.
