'61 fan shroud bolts and nuts

I know that the correct (3) vertical bolts holding the fan shroud to the radiator support are dished hex-head bolts, but are hex head nuts or square head nuts used on the back side of the bolt and are they welded to the support frame. I believe my assembly instructions book says the nut at the top of the support frame is welded, but it doesn't say anything about the rest of them.
I just saw a supposedly untouched '61 and there were no welded nuts for the fan shroud bolts.
Will judges be looking for the correct nuts? (I assume so)

    Thanks,

    Bill

My '62 has square head nuts welded to the back side of the core support. It is original.

We used to call square head nuts "farmer nuts". No offence to anyone in agriculture, its just what the 'ol folks' used to use with crescent wrenches to fasten implements to their tractors. -Dan-

I have the same wonder. My 61 (unwrecked) the core support has no weld nuts or any sign that there ever was any weld performed at the site of any of the eight holes.

I have two 1961 Corvettes, January and May cars. They both have square tack welded nuts on the radiator core support.
