    You have to figure it was the pump, we had 100 degree heat back in the 60's too. If not the mechanical issue the ROH in gasoline these days can shorten life of the rubber parts inside.

        I think Jack just ran out of time. Lots to do to get ready for this adventure. And if it was working - don't fix it. But I think where he made his mistake was in ignoring the symptoms when it first quit. It first stranded him on the Throgs Neck Bridge, and just because it started up after it cooled down - it quit once - its gonna quit again. And the symptoms had 'fuel pump' written all over it. Hopefully he won't have any more trouble on the rest of his journey. And after all - it is a Corvette you know - they are very good cars. -Dan-
