Was there an article in the Restorer about the differences through the years of oil cannisters. Could someone post the article or explain the differences

The first canister used measures about 7-5/8" and was used on 1956 and 1957 engines. In 1958 through 1967 the length was 6-3/4", for small block passenger cars, pickups, etc. I believe the longer canister was also used on some heavy duty trucks and may have been used on 348's and 409's. There was also another canister that was extra long that held two quarts of oil, that was used in heavy duty applications.- Top
