clear coating late C4 wheels

I have A saw blade wheel of took of 94 that the clear coat was peeling. I was going to have the rest chemically removed and try to restore it my self. what type of clear coat can I use

Keith, I believe that the clear coating on wheels is powder coated which is more duriable, I don' t know how the spary can clear will work, but I would say it maynot adhere as good as the factorys.

I was not thinking of using spay can clear.

I believe the coating used on original C4 wheels was some sort of a hi-tech paint and not a true powder coat. However, if I was going to have a wheel re-finished I'd go with a powder coat. In fact, I did just this for a secondary set of wheels for my 1992. I obtained an original set of used 1992 wheels which were structurally sound and stripped of original finish. I took them to Wheels America and they completely re-finished them with a powdercoat finish but in the exact configuration of the original painted finish. These wheels came out ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. They could not be discerned from a brand new, original wheel.

Yes, the information is in the service manual. However, it may very well be that some of the materials specified in the manual are no longer available.
