Has anyone used the Budget or Penske car carrier with the 16' truck rental to move a vette? looks like Penske cost would be about $350-$400 for a 400 mile move. I wonder how that compares with the cost of contracted car carrier firm? thanks...Don

Carriers are around a buck/mile depending on where they have loads going. 400 miles I would drive it myself if you are caravaning with family. If not dependable, then trailer yourself, make sure all is secured/oversecured, equipment checked out, and sit back and enjoy the ride. LEAVE PLENTY of SPACE between you and other traffic.

DO NOT TOW WITH A COVER ON! You paint will look like it has been sanded. The fine dust on a car with the cover flapping in the breeze will ruin a paint job. There is a towing cover, but it will cost you several hundred dollars. I have one of the old NASCAR towing covers which probably weights 75# + and is made to tie down very tight and years ago used it to haul my NCCC show car around.

If you are going to haul it yourself, rent an enclosed trailer to protect your car.
