    Hood Cable Clips

Having some difficulty in determining just how the hood release cable clips are fastened. My 57 did not have the clips - long gone. You pulled the right side cable from under the dash to open the right side, the left side worked because it is a straight run from the handle.
It appears the clips I bought aftermarket are different - there are two on each side and they came with #10-32 screws and nuts but the latch plates are tapped for #8-32. The AIM is not clear on how they go. Do the clips go on the engine side of the firewall or inside the cab? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks -Dan-

If memory serves, there are two per side. The 10-32 screws are incorrect. The clips are installed on the engine side.

      Dan,
There are two clips per side, one stacked on the top of the other and held on with a single clutch head screw on the engine side. Slide the cable through the hole in the firewall and slide the two clips on the cable with the indent on both pointed out towards the engine. Pull the cable past the clips about a half inch, add some dum dum caulk, tighten the screw and you are done.
