    Texas window sticker

    Hi,
Is this sticker on my 65 of any historical value or shall I take it off?
    Thanks,
    Gary

        OK, I'll remove it.
        What was its function anyway?

I can't remember offhand. There was a vendor at Pate the past years who had them by year. I have a friend who bought one for his GOAT. I think they have been advertised in Hemmings (www.hemmings.com). Sorry, I don't have my Hemmings with me now.

In New York such a sticker indicates your car has passed their annual safety inspection. It's been required by state law there for a long long time. Old NY inspection stickers are also available.

I will never forget the effort to "look at the drum brakes" on my 1965 (First Corvette; Probably in 1969.) I had to stop the mechanic who was attempting to remove the brake drum. He had already pulled the cotter pin, nut and outer bearing. He was yanking the whole wheel and hub, trying to get it off the spindle. This was at a Chevrolet Dealer, but one who sold no more than one Corvette per year.

Could be. They have them and when I spoke with them a couple of years ago at Pate I seem to recall San Antonio mentioned.

Gary, looks like that sticker came from Larry Machacek (281) 572-2505 or 281-429-2505 are the last phone numbers I have for him. Mailing address; Larry Machaecek, P.O. Box 515, Porter, TX 77365 He sells 1951-70 Texas Inspection stickers at all the Texas swap meets. The 1965 one on your car is same one on Larry's business card. This is the same guy that Steve Brohard referenced in his post. Hope this helps. Gary....
