Took the vette to cruise night tonight. Reverse lock out disappeared. Pulled in and took the ball, spring and T handle out...The t handle hole cracked. If the pin were not connected to the handle, is there clearance for the pin to slip through and fall to the ground? The shift handle swings to reverse with no resistance/lock out at all.....Advice/next steps appreciated.

Re: 1967 T Handle Reverse Lock Out Pin
The reverse lock out pin is welded to the shifter. The thin rod that is attached to the lock out handle, if it came loose from the handle could just slide thru and be lost.
The majority of the times the welded pin wears and the end of the thin rod gets buggered up. That's what causes this lock out problem. Is the thin rod and or spring missing?- Top

Re: 1967 T Handle Reverse Lock Out Pin
Hi, Gene
The lock out pin that on the t handle is gone. I was just under the car and cannot see anything protruding through the floor near reverse or anything that is bent from underneath the car....when I look down the hollow shaft of the shifter, I saw it yesterday but after I drove it home, I cannot see it any more...I think it is gone, but what seems odd to me is with all of the gear shift levers in the way, I am surprised that a long (although it is very thin) rod would just fall out...is that what usually happens when they come loose from the t handle?- Top
