    Is this LEGIT

I just received this email last night.
Have any of you heard of this company, "listed below"?
If this is true how do i know its not a fake?

    "Jack,
I just purchased the original protect o plate and several other documents pertaining to your 1966 Corvette Convertible that is registered on the C2 registry. Contact me at the below number if you are interested in the items.

    Thanks,"

I know a lot more now about the car IF ITS FOR REAL
I know it is a CA car so that explains the K19.

Does not hurt to see what he has. Get pictures, and price. Legit stuff can be verified. Re pop protectoplates are not close to the originals. Risk is if it is an assembled package if artifically aged documents, but the one thing is that the option list should be correct to your car.

I think I have been in touch with this guy looking for a few stray documents from my car, will need to see in my lit archive.

Jack, Jett has a website and tel. # in Georgia. (Googled Jettvette.com) Check the local BBB, Chamber, etc. and get an idea of his business transactions---complaints, OK guy, etc. Check his numbers with yours and get pics. of his items for sale to help determine if they are authentic.

      Good Luck!

If it's for real and he has the original documents for your car, I would really like to get an email like that about the documents belonging to the car I'm working on some day...

The Zone & Dealer Codes are just not quite legible on my tank sticker, and I have not been able to trace ownership back past 1972.

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with this. Repo POPs can look really good. In fact, before I got my real one, I got a repo that went through Regional judging without comment. I believe the judges had no idea it was a repo.

Later, after I got my real plate, I compared it to the repo and it looks remarkably similar.

Be careful, and get a real expert to look at the plate if you think it might be the real deal.

            Jack,

How much about your car is posted on the registry? Is it enough a person to "put together" a reproduction package including everything he says he now has?

Agree this would be a great call to get if the docs are legit, but it almost falls into the "if it's too good to be true" catagory...

I have to go alone with Steven. It can't hurt to investigate what he has. It strikes me as odd the he bought items belonging to your 66 without any idea if you want them or don't give a damn. You should ask for some photos and of course, the price of these items. Just seems kinda odd this guy would 'Buy' something that might turn out to be unwanted !

                Re: Is this LEGIT

Whats really peaked my interest in these items is that i have owned the car since 1974.
The car has not been registered since 1978.
I met the original owner 2 years ago.
The Original Owner told me some things about the whereabouts of the car until he sold it.
The Photo attachments that he, "jettvette" sent "to me" makes me more anxious/nervous/excited.
He is supposed to send me more pictures of the items.

I am just on of those procrastinators.

I have never since the original owner found me put his name out on the web. I talked to the Original Owner this AM.
From the few pictures the guy sent i verified with the OO his address of the time/his middle name.
I also know the Dealership the OO bought it from and year, he had it for 2 months before he went to VIETNAM. "NOT BUY HIS CHOICE"

If you look at the guy's web site it's hard to imagine he'd go through all that trouble to scam you. What have you got to lose? If the price is too high don't do it. He claims to search e-bay for corvette related stuff and then try to get it to the current owner. Claims to have done that with a block for a 62 and paperwork for a C2. Also he is an NCRS member. Don't know if he's active here, but I bet he is as he is computer literate.

I hope he finds stuff for me someday He has a list of VINs for which he has assorted parts and paperwork...not a lot, but some.

I don't think he is trying to scam me/others, I'm just trying to justify the money with the more information i garner good or bad, to purchase these items.

Why not contact an NCRS member offline who is an expert in these things, to discuss the situation and get an experienced assessment of fair value, sort of like an appraisal by a specialist?

I have been in touch with Scott before as I am searching for about the same thing. See what he has & how much. Sounds like you got a lucky break. Now who out there from Philly took a red 66 BB vert to central PA??? Clearfield area back before 1972???
