    62 Corvette restoration assembly

Though I would ask again if anyone knows of a publication that explains the correct way to reassemble a 1962 Corvette. The one I am restoring was a mess nothing was correct. Help..

    Carl,

I would start with the '62 AIM which can be purchased through the NCRS store (on the home page of NCRS) - if you don't already have it. That's the best source for how it went together.

    Good luck
    Rob

        Carl,

I don't think you are going to find a step by step written procedure on how to assemble your Corvette. The factory utilized the Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM), which is an illustrated set of drawings.

Since I am working on a vehicle I received in boxes, with a lot of incorrect parts, I understand what you are going through. You need to rely on the AIM, ST-12 (Corvette service manual), and in some cases the passenger service manual.

Other then that, you need to use your mechanical ability and think through a process before starting. I also found it helpful to look at other vehicles similar to my cars configuration.

For originality, you can not beat a Bow Tie vehicle, so try attending some NCRS events. The recent National Convention had some good Bow Ties to learn from & Terry M's Advance Judging school was a major help.

If you have a specific question, post it on the board, there are plenty of people willing to help. Pictures will help us understand your question and we may have a photo that will help you.

        Regards,

        Dennis

Thank you Dennis, I do have the (AMI) and it is a great help. I have been working on this car for for years. I just decided to paint the car and during dis-assembly found a lot of problems. It was painted once before and they must have just thrown everything in a bucket and and what ever came out first they used.
          Thanks for the help.
