Finish on C-1 Female Hood Locks

Guys, the body on my '56 is very close to being painted. The painter is looking ahead to doing the black out and asked me about the female hood locks that bolt to the firewall. Mine appear to be cad plated as is pointed out in the JM. We are wondering if they are bolted in place and painted when the black out process took place or are they bolted to the firewall afterward. One source tells me that he thought that this varied from year to year. I look forward to your replies. Thanks in advance! Brooks Glover (2141)

They were bolted on the car when blackout was done.

        Hi Brooks,
Just like Jerry said and stated in the new 56-57 Gudging guide semi flat black like the underside of the hood.
I am attaching a few pictures of my 57 bowtie car female latches showing the blackout.

what is the deduction for not painting the female hood locks? i drive my car and am always opening the hood. this item does not retain the black paint if used frequently and if i paint it for judging i will later be unhappy about the appearance of missing paint.

non tipical finish. i would deduct no more than a point or two but i am not a master judge. in my experience that is what i have seen.
