    Front Steering Spindle Knuckle

Can someone teach me on the front steering spindle knuckle and it's two hole locations. It was brought to my attention in Concord that my 72 LT1 is not in the "correct" hole. The car is manual steering and the rod is now in the front (closer to the front of the car) without a plug in the rear hole. After checking several Bowtie cars it does appear that mine is incorrect? Why would someone move it or is it possible to have come from the factory in the front hole? How would the steering be affected by using the rear holes?

    TIA

    Re: Front Steering Spindle Knuckle

The front hole is used for power steering cars. The manual steering cars came with the rear hole being used, however the front hole can be used for quicker steering responce. Using the front hole with manual steering increases the turning resistance for the driver, more effort is needed to turn the steering wheel.
Power steering cars came with a filling material in the rear holes.
