GM Service Panel 3831929 SMC?

The lower parking lamp panel on my 63 was replaced in the early 80's with what appears to be a GM replacement panel with part # 3831929 molded into backside. Color is light grey and texture is very smooth. I'm assuming replacement panels during this period were SMC and not FRP. Is so will conventional polyester resin products such as Evercoat 498/499 work with SMC or mandatory to use Evercoat's 864/865 SMC resin.

It is SMC. GM supplied that part for many years in that light gray SMC. You might get away with polyester products, but frankly I wouldnt chance it for bonding. As a surfacer, the better polyester products will work.
