Goodyear Polysteel Radial 225 70 R15

From another board I frequent comes word that Kelsey Tire is in the test phase of reproducing the Goodyear Polysteel Radial in the 225 70 15. This should help out the owners of 1978-82 Vettes put the original style tires on the car. No idea as of yet on when they will be released or pricing.

Terry..this Kelsey tire you saw at Des Moines is a repo tire? Us 73-77 car owners are still waiting for a repo tire for the Firestone 500 in GR70x15?

Did you hear any word on the Firestone 500?

I was in touch with Kelsey's about the Polysteel's (see photo attached - VERY nice) - they are (already) in, but not in huge numbers yet.....

And I left the message, that a repro of the Firestone 500 would be VEEERY welcomed! (That is without their original production "flaw".)
I very much hope, they are listening.....

Yes the Polysteel tire at Des Moines was a reproduction by Kelsey.

I thought John said something about the Firestone 500s at the meet, and as I remember it wasn't very good.

That picture of the Polysteel in 225-70x15 looks closer than the Goodyear Eagle GTII. It's still not the GR70 sizing, but the RWL is closer on lettering size.

Why shouldn't that be GR70/15? It's a 225-70/15 which translates to GR70/15...

Yes, currently I'm running Eagle GTIIs, which look good - only not 100% that period.

Keep telling Kelsey's - maybe they will see THAT there is the market for them. I guess, right now they only fear getting connected to the 500's bad image/history........

Update, the first run of the tires are in and are already sold out. If you want to order the tires talk to Kelsey Tire as the second run is scheduled for mid-Sep arrival.

Got a note and photo from John last month on the 225s. Note if ordering, specify whether you wish the small lettering or larger and more familiar GT Radial style lettering. Consult your tech manual for the transition dates of small (foreground) to larger lettering (background) for the P225s.

When I interviewed Kelsey, I asked about why this series (includes the 255s) and he explained that surprisingly enough, this series gets much more requests than the Firestones...its a popularity thing. Also include a link to the Corvette Enthusiast article on the P255 series.
