Is Clutch Fork # 3887177 (still available at GMPartsdirect) correct for 1967 L79 M21?

In the archives here I found that the correct clutch fork for 1967 is GM #3887177. Is that correct for an L79 with M21?

The various vendors have midyear clutch forks in the $100 range, but if 3887177 is the correct part number, it's still available at GMPartsDirect for $62 including shipping. What's the catch?

Is the part that is available through GM today the best choice from a quality, originality and appearance standpoint?

That's probably the same part that the vendors sell - I can't imagine anyone going to the expense of building the expensive dies for such a low-volume part when it's already available elsewhere.

The GM #3887177 is the fork used in PRODUCTION and available in SERVICE ever since for all L1966-81 Corvettes. Is the current part the same with respect to every nuance of detail as the part originally installed on the car? Probably not but the differences are so minor as to be virtually indiscernible.

          That's good news, thanks Joe!
