    Re: Reading Tire Codes

    Jeff, you need to tell us the brand and tire size if you expect to get anything -- and if the brand is other than Goodyear forgetaboutit. It does look like a Goodyear code though.

    I don't have the codes here at work, so unless someone else has them you will wait until I get home.

      Jeff:
      The second tire decodes as follows:
      M= Goodyear produced domestically
      J= Plant (Topeka, KS)
      U2= F70-15
      DYA= 2 ply nylon blackwall
      461= 46th week of '71 (or '81)
      Sorry I can't help you with the othre 2.

        AssUming these are Goodyear tires:

        A4NDLJDY = 25th week of 1970, made in Topeka

        KY11446 = 5th month 1967, made in AKR. just a guess on my part that AKR stands for Akron

          Terry,
          Is the 5th month of 67 too early for a 68 with a March 14 build? Thanks again for your help

              Re: Reading Tire Codes

              I looked today int he daylight and I see no reason to change the dates I gave you on the 27th.

              I WILL ask again: Are these Goodyear tires, and what is the style of the tire dated May 1967?

                Yes Terry these are all goodyears. I noticed though this is a 4 ply tire,instead of the correct 2 ply.

                        Terry, Could I bother you to look up these two tire codes.Earlier I believe you stated there was no code findings for Firestone and Uniroyal. That is fine if that's the case. Still trying to locate the perfect spare. Found a Goodyear WW Speedway code URO1D17. Also a Firestone RW code 0000LC390 Speedway. Thanks for your help. Jeff

                          For the Goodyear:
                          UR = 12th month of 1969 and this tire was built in AKR -- I would guess Akron

                          For the Firestone the 390 should be the "Federal code" but it would be the 39th week of 1970 (that would be too early for the Federal code which started in Spring 1971) or 1980 or 1990. I really doubt Firestone was making Nylon Cord Speedway tires in 1980 or 1990 though. The four leading zeros are a puzzle, at least to me.
