Is the VIN number stamped on a 68 frame ? If so where ?

John, I had a post recently on the frame stamp on my 72, its by the driver side #4 body mount and under the drivers side rocker in front of the #3 mount, but frame will have to be off to see this stamp.

John, I have also seen them on the top of the kickup at the left rear wheel.

C3s got the frame stamp in the same place(s) as C2s. Maybe, if the frame is not too rusted, you can see the one over the driver's side rear axle or there abouts. Might have to brush the top of the frame rail and use a mirror.

I found my VIN where Dick said. I took the wheel off and used a bright lite from behind and found the S413417 on top of frame kick up. It is kind of hard to see but recognizable.

I'll try a picture. It's not very clear, in the picture, but you can make out the last two 17.

John, I have also seen them on the top of the kickup at the left rear wheel.

That is were my number was on a 69. It was on the top of the frame behind the rear drivers side wheel and only visible with the body off.

Here is a pic of my 68 frame stamp near the driverside rear kickup. This stamp was light and very hard to find on my car. As mentioned the second stamp is towards the front near mount 3.

You'll find it where Pat found his - on top of the frame, centered on the front edge of the #4 body mount bracket; it's stamped again about 12" forward of the kickup, about where your wallet is when seated in the car.
