Absolutely my favorite meet, and has been for over 20 years. Unfortunately I will not be able to make it this year. Great friends, good cars, good times.

If I were you, I would start packing right now.

Roy -- It's 820 miles for me (from Calgary, Alberta). But then everything's 650+ from here, including my nearest chapter meet . Great event location, although as a NW Regional destination, I preferred Seaside OR; oh well, maybe sometime soon.

If you get bored with Corvettes, you can always be on the lookout for the only known genetically male person to have given birth. Then there's the sport of randomly exiting from what's gotta be a hundred traffic circles (they seem to have banned conventional intersections).

Roy, I can vouch for the traffic circles, make sure you hit them late in the afternoon with lots of bugs on your windshield so the sun blinds you for a very special driving advanture!

Proof that Dan was at the 2008 Bend meet. They have a big tent set up for a swap meet, Roy, so bring your stuff.

We always enjoyed Bend years ago . We took our 67 =top flight // 57 FI =top flight , but that was in the 80's. Now we drive the 55 and this is how we travel now days pulling a tear drop to carry wife's stuff and parts to sell or buy like we did in 05 Utah. Dont know if we should take the hard top or bubble top , if we use the bubble top I'll cover it with paper to help keep the sun from boiling our brains. Driving the 55 far I take extra parts for the 55 and tools . She's never let use down in over 31 years but repaired other Corvettes on the road .


It's always interesting to watch other people looking at use and hard to get back on the road when we stop for gas or food by people asking what were driving.

i have a 55, used primarily to pull a munure spreader. see ya in bend roy. put hardtop on and save yer scalp.mike

There be an invasion of Lyle and Bend from the east coast...Mikey/KC/Mike Hair/and (I think) Dave Grey and yours truly and I"m sure some others...it's only fitting that we return the favor seeing that the Dipstick just got home yesterday from his 6939 mile trip from Lyle to Cumberland to Charlotte to San Francisco to Lyle in his '57 Nomad...twenty three days, 37 gas stops averaging 18-19 mpg the old '57 performed flawlessly...so watch out!!!!

Roy, What spare parts do you take with you? I'm starting to wander farther away with my 55, and I am gathering spare parts to bring with me. It's too hot down here in La. to go very far now though.

Front and rear wheel bearings and generator bearings
Dist points and rotor
Hose clamps
Bulbs
Fuel filter
Trouble light for checking shorts
Small amount of tools
Black tap ,fine wire,fuses, a long wire with clamps at each end .
One gallon of gas in the rear fender
Camera, AAA card,phone, towels for when it rains !
And for being hot I carry one of those pump water spray bottles to spray on my face

Remember it's an adventure driving a old car, I love it and have many war stories and meet interesting people .We get more attention then driving any other car we ever owned.

The more you drive your 55 you'll fall more in love with it.
