    64 interior trim ?

I am working on some interior trim on my 64 coupe. The interior windshield moulding on the a-pillar is all scratchd. I took it off to repaint it. Between the a pillar and the trim moulding is black dum-dum. is that factory ?I'm sure it takes up the gap between the trim moulding and the a-pillar. Now for the other part of the question, should I say the dumb question. The car has been repainted, there is body color on the dum-dum. My guess is from a sloppy remask? Am I correct that there should be no body color on the dum dum?? And is the dum dum correct???

There is no sealer or "dum-dum" specified in any of the '63-'67 Assembly Manuals for that application. If it had been used as a "rattle fix" in the plant, it wouldn't have any paint on it, as the garnish moldings were installed long after the Paint Shop.
