    Photo needed - original 1970 350/350 carb

Does anyone have a photo of a known original (not restored) 1970 350/350 carb? I'm trying to determine if the one my friend purchased is entirely correct. I suspect it is, but would like to verify.

The one he has does have the correct number, and what I'm interested in is the sheet metal "box" that sits on top of the air horn near the front and the "bent paper clip" linkage to the accelerator pump. You can see it in this photo that I borrowed:

Should an original Quadrajet for a 350 horse car also have that same box and linkage?

    Thanks,
    Patrick

maybe i don't understand the question. if the carb originally had the item the carb top would have a hole where the rubber seal fit against and the little hole for the screw to hold the tin cover should have threads in it as a self tapping screw was used there. i was under the impression you wanted to verify if that carb should have the parts as you all ready have a picture of the item

I'm trying to figure out if the carb is a restamp or it's correct.

I don't own a 70, so have no clue as to whether or not a 70 350 horse motor is supposed to have that stamped steel box + bent paper clip linkage. Or, is this a different carb with the correct 7040207 number stamped on it? He bought it cheap, and I'm looking to verify configuration. To me it does not look restamped but I'm not familiar with the stamped steel box + bent paper clip linkage.

            Does anyone know?

like i posted before the delco rochester parts book shows those parts on a 70 corvette 350/350 carb. is the parts book wrong could be or also someone could have changed the carb top.

                Oh Ptrick:

                Post #39 middle picture is a 1969 350/350

If you posted a good picture of the carburetor stamp pad you might get some opinions -- for whatever that is worth.

correction to the above the self tapping screw was used to hold the flat spring material that the rubber seal was atached to. sorry about the error

                    Thanks Terry.
Never thought to look in one of the infamous bolt threads.

Based on the aging of the carb I highly doubt it's a restamp. And, it's at Joe's house; if you recall he bought it at BG. It took him a few years to find one in his price bracket, but it looks like he did it.

I only found that thread when I tried to post that picture again, and the damn vBulletin wouldn't let me. I wouldn't have found it without the computers help.

I am pretty sure all the 1969 and 1970 Rochesters had that "box" as you put it on the front top (I think it is some kind of heat stove), and the hairpin linkage for the accelerator pump. THey also had a big red R on the driver's front of the carb body.
