Seeing that i have a factory mix can of 1969 Lemans Blue should i take it to an auto paint store and have them make up a current paint formula for all to use. What brand of paint do people use today??

Is the underside of your gas door lid still painted, or has it been stripped? If it is still painted, that might be a good source for a color match.

Not quite that easy Ralph. The new materials take a different hue? tint? than the old lacquers did. The metallic particles are shaped differently and are of a different size. One should be so lucky as to have a red, black, white, etc car of a solid color with no metallic in it. The best the jobbers can do is get you in the same neighborhood. The painter will have to tint the paint to match. What the factories use as off-set colors are not even close, in some cases
