    My Engine Found

Hi all. A few weeks ago, I posted here regarding the engine for my 68 390 Coupe being advertised for sale. I received lots of advice and support from this board and from several members. I promised as I negotiated for the purchase of "my" engine that I would post the result of my effort. Here it is.
I am still happily driving my 68 with it's non original 427 in 400 hp dress and it looks like I will continue to do so. Apparently the gentleman who has my engine in his Camaro thought he would get lots of money for it. That's his right. As near as I can determine he came by it honestly, spent WAY more than you can imagine to have it built up after losing a cam and needed to recover his costs. I can understand that and I guess I can continue to live without the motor.
Am I disappointed? Yeah. Will I get over it? You bet!
I just want to thank everyone who gave me opinions. advice or whatever you had to offer. I helped me to think more clearly, and like always seems to be the case, your efforts were right on target. Thanks again! I love this place!!! Larry

Thanks for the update, Larry. I bet you haven't heard the last of this engine or it's owner. Hopefully the car and engine will be reunited sometime !

As has been posted here before, we only 'rent' these cars for a period of time. Eventually the car will get sold and as far as that goes, it won't sell over market just because someone's got an excess amount tied up into the motor. If the guys holds it, well his estate will sell it. Life is short, enjoy it while you can.

Larry, keep this guy's contact info. Check back with him every year or two (hopefully both of you left on good terms). If he blew up the first build he'll probably eventually damage this one. Even is he does'nt it won't be a "fresh" build after a while.

I saw a post on the Camaro site about this I guess. I think you made the right call.
I know a guy with a real ZL1 Camaro. He had a real ZL1 engine in it but not the one that came in it. He found the original one for his car but the guy tried to gouge him. He walked and a couple years later he got the engine for a fair price for them both.

Many sellers 'forget' that when they've got a VIN numbered original part, their universe of 'qualified' buyers automatically shrinks to ONE...
