    Mid Year Charging

In my '66, the battery ran down. I get 11.88 volts across the battery at about 1,500 rpm. Would you say this might be the voltage regulator, or alternator? What about the battery? As a static reading of the battery, I get 11.67 volts. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Either the alternator or the regulator. Apply voltage to the field side of the plug and if it charges full out, it will be the regulator.

Have same problem. How do I "apply voltage to field side(of alternator?)"to determine if regulator is good or bad?
      Thanks

With a clip lead, take 12V off of the large terminal and connect it to the blue field wire on the two position plug on the alternator. If the alternator charges, the VR is bad or there is a wiring problem. Do this for a very short period of time.
