Remember everybody!
Carfax only works if the repair facility chooses to enter the data! If the car is fixed by someone who is not a subscriber or they choose not to update you will never know!
(think about it, what incentive is it for them to update? They dont get paid...its optional; like the "where's George" on dollar bills)

My brothers daughter rear ended someone and did $22K damage to his leased Lexus 460. One year later I got a 30 day subscription to Carfax. We ran the number and it came up clean. THE CAR WAS FIXED AT THE LEXUS DEALER that sold it! (this event occured in the last year)
Some poor sucker has that car!!!

Now that I know how it works, I have no confidence in it! Waste of money.

Just like before, buyer beware!!!

I was able to determine (through other means) that a used car I had bought was not a one-owner car as the dealer told me, but spent the first year as a rental car. If I had known that, I never would have bought it. I learned never to trust that dealer also. Carfax can be useful and that information would have shown up.
