    Rerestoration of a 70 L-46

Well, after much thought and planning today i have started to disassemble my 70 for the second time. Did a complete frame off 7 years ago but now want to do it correct for top flight, have 99 percent of the original parts, but when i did it before I replaced most of the nuts and bolts with common hardware, i have the frame resto manual, my question is does anyone have documentation on the fasteners used elsewhere, like frame braces, bumper braces, frame extension etc. , any help would be great thanks Ed

    Ed,

send me a list of what bolts your looking to ID. I should have several setts of each application with appropriate headmarkings.

Hi Rich, thanks for the quick reply, i need all the front bolts,

        1. front crossmember to frame 7/16-14 x 1-1/4" grade 5 (lots of headmarkings ...M, A, WB, RBW, TR, and a few others)

        2. and the 4 that bolt the bumperette braces, Same as above

        3. the frame extension bolts, 1/2-13 grade 5 headmarkins same as above

        4. the bumper brace bolts, if these are the brackets that come off the frame extension then they are the same, all other front brackets with the exception of the outer bolt to the bumper ends (which are 3/8-16 grade 8) are the same as #1

        5. the radiator support bolts, are these the 2 that attach the radiator support to the front crossmember or the side bolts that attach the support to the fender skirts??

        6. the headlight frame bolts, 5/16-18 x 3/4" recessed hex head captured washer flat tip (manty headmarkings (B&H, F, IM, SEMS, Anchor and lots more)

in the rear I need the

        7. gas tank strap bolts 3/8-16 fully threaded grade 5 only headmarking is RBW

        8. and all the bumper brace bolts on each side, the 4 that attach the outer brrackets are the same as #3, tthe rest of the brace/bracket bolts are the same as #1

        9. the gas tank frame bolts 3/8-16 X 7/8" grade 2 most common headmarking C but there are others

        10. and the rear crossmember bolts. if these are the bolts to attach the crossmember to the frame (rubber cushion) then they are 3/8-16 x 1-1/8 or some times 1-1/4" grade 8 (headmarkings M,WB, TR, O, and others)

Hope this helps and PM me as I have lots of the above.

            Hi Edward,
I believe that Richard Fortier advertises in the DRIVELINE that he has a large selection of original fasteners. Perhaps he may be able to help you with some pieces that Rich doesn't have. 810-750-1472
Also remember that often various head marks were used for the same bolt in the same location as suppliers varied.
            Regards,
            Alan
