Michael, I don't know what part # it is and can't find one on the base. Someone else must know.

Harry thank you - this is definitely what we are supposed to have on these Big Blocks and as far as the part number, I am pretty sure we did get some of that defined in a thread here - probably back in May.

Re: 66 427/425 air cleaner base - requested photos

The new JM has photos of correctly configured 66 air cleaner bases. It is same configuration for small blocks also except with the differently located vent tube. I am fairly certain this same configuration is what would be expected to be seen on the 65 396 cars also, this base was discontinued in 67 when Chevrolet started using the quadrajet and additional clearancing was stamped into the base for linkage clearance. None of the reproduction or later bases are correct for 65 BB or any of the 66 cars. Anyone have any part # documentation?

Bill, I am pretty sure we have that in the forum, I'll go and look at my threads, could take a bit, but real sure we know the PN's.

Bill, no 65-66 details part numbers in the forum archives, looking for help, Joe Lucia or Dave Liukkonen may have these numbers.

I just found a recent email from Dave with the information, just had to cross from the left to right side of the brain with no caffiene, I knew I had seen the detail.

Here it is, what Dave's study of this topic shows:

                  According to <his> 1965, 1966, and 1967 Chevrolet parts catalogs (May 1965 , October 1965, and April 1967) the 65-67 Corvette 396,427 used a 6422188 base (w/6421816, 6423240, and 6423907 air cleaner assemblies).

According to Chevrolet Parts History 6422188 was replaced with 6423910 in August 1967. Believe is the 6422188 base was installed on the assembly line in mid 1965 (396 eng.) and 1966 (427 eng.).

The 6423910 is the 1967 427 base, assembly (6423907), with the additional "indentation".

Belief is that the 6422188 base was still sold over the counter until August 1967 to use up the stock in the warehouses with 6423910 bases being installed on the 1967 assembly line.

Bill, hope this helps - do you have one of these?

Where is the part number located? If there is one. I did not see one when taking the photos.

                        Harry,
There are no part numbers stamped on these air cleaners. It just takes research - a combination of the appropriate Chevrolet parts catalogs, "field" research, and common sense.

                          Re: 66 427/425 air cleaner base - 67 327/427 the same???

The photos posted by Harry are of the 65-66 427 version of this base.

Is there any agreement that this base remained the same, less that added bump, for 1967?

How about 327 for 1967 in that the stamping was the same, only where they punched holes for the PCV system tube was different?

What does the 67 JG say?
