        been there done that hauled the race car lots of miles and did not do well enought to pay for the entry fee and gas for the tow rig.

            i just checked the filter element supplied by GM with their thru the cowl air cleaner setup we ran on the Z-11 drag cars and Z-28 engines and it is a 3" tall X 14" in diameter. we also used this filter on our dirt track racecars. that works out to be about 129 sq inches of filter area not counting the folds so that should be what you should shoot for.
